Re: LPG Price hike

Okay, 2500 litres in veg oil is a fair whack, but if it's used as a fuel as has been pointed out shouldn't it be taxed the same as other fuels. From reading veg oil threads, you'd have to use around 45-55% diesel to mix as well......that's a guess from memory, as I've read folks run on pure oil when...

Re: LPG Price hike

You make some valid points Helen and in an ideal world where public transport wasn't at capacity and expensive and reliable and didn't take 120 mins to cover 6 miles I would use it. In the summer months I run/bike into work. With the weather and bad light I don't want to risk life and limb with thes...

Re: LPG Price hike

I think - in my own opinion that the gas is a by-product of petrolium production. That by-product itself is a greener fuel, which is why in the past the govt wanted us to use it......hence all those incentives years ago! As lpg becomes more mainstream two things happen. 1. Demand v's supply........p...

Re: Rx8 Alloys fitted

I'm on 50's. from what I've seen 55's are a better visual fit! Word of caution on Clearance with full lock.....you may have to cut a bit of plastic away. Also check the speedo against a satnav reading. I run on 225/50/R18's... ..at 30&40 mph my actual speed is approx 3.5mph slower than indicated...

Re: St Tropez - Cote D'Azur....an that!!

Thanks for the replies peeps :D so far John, I'm of the opinion of getting down as fast as possible. Olive sits at 75/80mph and returns around 450kms on €62 ish of gas. That was with a full camper load and the 4 of us this summer! :D Problem I've got are my girls. They will be 6&4 respectively a...

St Tropez - Cote D'Azur....an that!!

Starting to examine options of a couple of weeks down on the Cote D'Azure near St Tropez, Nice and Cannes. Having had a quick look at the road atlas I'm looking at an approximate trip of 1600km each way working out at around €220 in gas and €130 in tolls each way before. We'd take 2/3 full days gett...

Re: LPG Price hike

There won't be a hike in veg oil. It's classed as a food stuff and already liable to a level of VAT. It's only where you reuse old cooking oil, and use the bio-diesel/oil kits where it's filtered and had other chemicals/diesel added to be turned into an outright fuel. Then it's liable to about 45p p...

Re: LPG Price hike

One of the reasons that LPG is much cheaper is that it's v.low on emissions. Also the gas is a 'happy' by-product of petrol production! I suppose that if petrol goes up in tandem then it still balances out a little. Remember the big push and subsidy the previous govt had on converting...... Still, i...

Re: LPG Price hike

The average round my end is 75.9. So we are looking at about 10.75p going onto that. Effin joy unbounded...... :( :( :( That means petrol rumbles up to about 140 - 143 per litre.......even worse. Good old rip off Britain ...   I'm sure I've some money somewhere that can be taxed twic...
