Re: Driving up steep hills

Thanks all for the replies so far. I'm pretty confident about the important parts of the cooling system because the rad, stat and pump have all been replaced in the last couple of years and been running the mason for around five years. You make a good point about calibrating the mason. I didn't real...

Driving up steep hills

I have a healthy bongo that gets used most days on the commute to work. It has a mason alarm fitted and the mason has only ever gone off twice and in both cases that van was working very hard climbing up into biggin hill and the hills near Aberystwyth. As I'm paranoid on both occasions I have pulled...

Oil light briefly flashed

Hi all On my normal journey to work roughly a minute or 2 after starting up my oil light flashed briefly, and subsequently went out, on 2 occasions. Any idea on root cause? I've recently had an oil change so was doubting its related to the actual oil level. Tried doing a search but couldn't find anyt...

Re: The Rust Directory

I'd like to recommend the Bongo Body shop in Barnsley. Dave is a bongo fan himself and fixed up and resprayed a few nasty rust patches for me. He also removed all the old cracked decals and sprayed the sides of the aft where the decals were removed. After a machine polish I have a great looking van....

Re: new Alternator result in higher Temp readings (Mason fit

thanks Simon. On the old alternator the reading was identical sounding to your Diesel Bongo (i'm Diesel too). Now I have the new part i'd say its more like 5 past the hour (or 75% ish). Unfortuantley I didnt take any voltage readings. Thanks. Sounds like its just one of those things really....if sli...

new Alternator result in higher Temp readings (Mason fitted)

Hi just curious. I've recently had a new Alternator fitted and since then my temp gauge (Mason fitted) has always read higher than before the work was done. There are no overheating issues at all and I have been doing motorway journeys of over an hours length for the last 3 weeks without problems. C...

Re: charge/sediment lights on and temp rising under accelera

Thanks i will check this out. Booked into garage wednesday in case alternator needed. My estimate on work journey was way out . Its more like 14 miles so near 30 there and back and no overheating so guessing the mason temp movement must be linked to voltage issues. Have searched on here and found on...

charge/sediment lights on and temp rising under acceleration

Hi all, I have the Charge and Sediment lights on this morning for first time so sounds like I need to get the Alternator checked/replaced looking at above sticky thread. One quick query linked to this if i may? I have a mason alarm and when accelerating or driving this morning (with the sed and char...

making up a funnel suitable for bleeding a Bongo

Hi This is a stupid question but need some tips to help overcome a problem. The funnel I have previously used to bleed my van broke a while ago and i chucked it out without paying much attention to its construction. This weekend I had planned to bleed my van due to an issue reported in previous post...
