Re: Bleeding Coolant system in 2.5 Diesel.
Thanks for this. I don’t see how this works tbh. Obviously it does but can’t get my head around it. I could understand using pressure from my compressor to push coolant through the system from the radiator. What I am suggesting is sucking the coolant from the expansion tank through the system using ...

Bleeding Coolant system in 2.5 Diesel.
Before I purchase a vacuum pump, just want to check if anyone has bled the cooling system using a vacuum pump and non-return valve via the bleed hose? Seems logical but does it work even when cold?

Re: Bongo Importing/purchasing
Thanks Bob - thought I had replied to this earlier but can't see it in the forum! 4x4 would be a benefit as we do most of our Bongoing in the Highlands. However we are going to view some examples around Scotland and NE England in the next few weeks. We are also, of course, used to the elevated roof ...

Re: Bongo Importing/purchasing
I doubt you'll find a late 4x4 as the last ones were all 2 ltr petrol engines, and only the diesels had four wheel drive. :( Thanks Bob. Putting you on the spot now! If you were looking for a newer base model in order to transfer the existing conversion, how would you go about it and what would you...

Bongo Importing/purchasing
Hi all. My 1997 Bongo, purchased in 2007, is coming into its twylight years. We are thinking about a replacement and the idea of importing one from Japan has crossed my mind. I have read through many of the messages in the forum but cannot find how to go about it. I have learned all about the extra ...

Re: Drivers Windows - stopped working
Thanks. Shorted out D and H wires in the switch plug which should open the window but nothing. Power feed wire may be broken? I will take door panel off and check motor just in case.

Drivers Windows - stopped working
Before I delve into the wiring, thought I would ask if anyone had the same prob? Passenger side window works fine from the passenger door switch but on the drivers side nothing works. I haven't done anything recently to precipitate such a prob so any ideas? Rather not start taking the wiring loom ap...

Re: Automatic Transmission Fluid
Thanks, all. Will do a complete fluid change it is darker than the recommended "cherry" and has some black bits in it! Obviously the original Japanese fluid.

Automatic Transmission Fluid
How often should this be renewed? And how do you do it? Like most Bongos mine (2.5 auto) will not change into top until fluid had warmed up a bit but having done 70k perhaps it is time to change the fluid?

Re: Rust
Thanks Stuc. Hope someone can check. Can't think of any reason for there to be an open pathway for water/salt to get to the sills - although Bongos are not known for bad sills in my experience. I'll block them up with something until someone points out otherwise!

Re: Rust
Thanks for that Stuc. I have attached a pic. This is the passenger side rear wheelhousing looking forwards - see the hole at the bottom of the inner wheelhousing? Should it be open or is a grommet missing? Same on other side. You can also see signs of wet - that is the waxoil I pumped in. BTW I ment...

Re: Rust
Hope this thread ain't closed yet! Rust! Firstly my trusty Bongo has the usual wheel arch rust as described earlier in this thread. Tried to repair it but it just came through again so must be coming from in between the twin "skins". So I drilled a hole inside the wheel arch and pumped in ...
