Re: V6 Self-inflicted Misery in Southern Spain!!

Hi All - By way of an update The Bongo made it home safe and sound on a transported back to ADS in Bristol, final diagnosis was a failed ECU, i am unsure if this was a unlucky coincidence or due to, as a suspected the recovery driver leaving the ignition on all night. Either way, glad it’s all fixed...

Thank you all so much for your replies, Simon you are a star, if i have to return to get the Bongo, i will take you up on your kind offer of the parts on loan. V6 Self-inflicted Misery in Southern Spain!!

Hi Everyone We took our beloved 2002 V6 across the channel and down to southern Spain 3 weeks ago, The Bongo performed perfect, never missed a beat, A/C fully on with the outside temperature hitting 36'c+, we were averaging 24.4 mpg with 2 adults and 2 children and a boot space of luggage, then, a m...

Re: Water in rear light clusters......

I had this in my rear clear lense on my tailgate, you need to remove the panel from the inside of the tailgate, remove both sets of the plastic capped nuts on the outer edge, remove the 4 gold captured nuts within the door, remove the two cross head screws. Unbolt the door handle from outside, 2x 10...

Re: Aircon running without the engine

HI Dave, your mad, lol. AC in bongos is not my speciality, however, I was a refrigeration and air conditioning engineer for 15 years and now i am service, maintenance and technical director for a large refrigeration and Air Con company, not that i have an answer for your problem. Issues as i see it,...

Re: Air-con system gas capacity???

I believe its 950 gramms of R134a, i would weight the refrigerant in and check the suction and discharge pressure are stable at around 3000 rpm. I would also check theres no frost back on the suction line to the compressor.

Re: Cylinder head/Gasket

Hi Jimbob I spent months swapping and changing parts on my bongo to try to resolve the over heating issue, bit the bullet, stripped off the head, i could see the crack in cylinder 2 chamber. I replaced with a new head, new gasket and sensors ect, fitted a Haydn low level alarm for peace of mind. The...

Re: Overheating problems.............help!

Hi, I had the same symptoms, my issue was when i brought my bongo the thermostat had been butchered so it was only the gasket, the bongo ran fine for many miles, with the very smallest of coolant loss, only when i replaced the thermostat and the engine got to the correct temperature did it overhead,...

I competely agree, i was going to mod the heater gauge with the installation of a resistor and fit a Haydn low level alarm.
