Re: Replacing wind deflectors
The Bin Lorry smashed mine. I used a plastic scraper to remove what was left and then transparent double sided tape. I did put some packing between the door and van and used it as a guide to position the deflector. It has been on about a year and still looking good.

Re: Fob operated imobiliser/alarm removal
I have just found a post on the forum about reprogramming a key fob. The actual key fob was actually sold on ebay a few years ago and is no longer offered for sale. My fob has 4 buttons 2 for central locking and 2 for alarm/immobilser. Would the programming for alarm/immobiliser be a separate proced...

Re: Fob operated imobiliser/alarm removal
Is it not possible to obtain a (new) key fob. Thank you for the reply. I have searched previously to find one but was told that as it is a Japanese aftermarket immobilizer the UK ones work on a different frequency. I don't know enough about them to know if this is so. Do you think these may be avai...

Re: Fob operated imobiliser/alarm removal
Generally on security grounds these things are placed in awkward corners, depending on just what sort of system you have then several circuits will have been cut into to prevent the engine starting and possibly also to flash lights etc. Unless you know what your doing and have experience its best l...

Points noted - thank you.Northern Bongolow wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 6:58 pm Yes, it's a lot easier. Just can be hard to get the pipe mountings undone as they rust and can snap, length of release agent usually gets em off.
May have to remove the battery and tray too. Good luck

Fob operated imobiliser/alarm removal
The key fob that came with my van around 8 years ago is looking quite fragile.
I have avoided using it on a daily basis as I think it is on its last legs.
What would be involved in isolating the alarm or would be an auto electricians job?

Low coolant alarm saved the day
Yesterday we travelled to mid Wales for the day. Starting the engine for leaving and the LCA activated. On checking we had lost some coolant and probably looked worse as we had parked on a steep slope. Did the return journey in 5 hops of approx 12 miles at a time. Letting the engine cool down, top u...

Leisure battery and split charge relay
We have a year 2000 V6 and 5 or 6 years ago fitted a Rooster split charge unit and a Leisure battery. The LB hasn't really had much use over the years. The 2 connections to the split charge unit are from fuse box locations 1 and 8 (cabin lights and mirrors radio and cigar lighter sockets). I noticed...

MOT Service and ARB
Just like to say had MOT Full service and ARB's replaced by A & S Motor repairs of Caerphilly. Once again excellent service from a Bongo specialist in S Wales that really know Bongos.

Spineless and inconsiderate drivers Drivers
Had my Bongo parked at the front of the house on the road to load up. Whilst loading a someone parked opposite and didn't really leave sufficient room for others to pass. Hence (I think it may have been the bin lorry) demolished the wind deflector with his wing mirror. No other damage but bits every...

Re: E10 Fuel
E10 is out now in the northwest. Look on the nozzle holder for the info. The unleaded e5 is the standard unleaded, now badged as super unleaded, I would use this if in doubt though they are now charging super unleaded prices for the standard (what a surprise). What was the super unleaded is very ha...

Re: Flashing charge light
I managed to get back earlier today to work on the electrics and did the following:- Isolated the split charge relay by removing the fuse - no change removed the swap loom and replaced with the original fuses - no change removed the extra accessories I had fitted, (The TM4 - Twin Sensor, Low coolant...

Re: Flashing charge light
Thanks for both posts.
We left the Bongo at home and did 2 trips in the wifes car to get away as originally planned.
After talking with Karl and the your advice, when I get home I will be isolating the SCR and take it from there.

Re: Flashing charge light
Geoff, The dash charge light appears to be full intensity, as do other other dash lights. When I noticed it flashing last night I returned home, about half an hour driving and as far as the engine performed, that seemed normal. With regards to the relay under the bonnet, with engine running and in t...
