Re: Passenger Window Switch

I didn't cut and replace the damaged piece but I just tried bypassing it by attaching a wire from ground to the black wire inside the drivers door. This made no difference :( I have just tested the switch again on the drivers side - just to make a slight correction. When monitoring the motor, when I...

Re: Passenger Window Switch

After looking at the diagrams again the only thing I can think is that the GND is a bit dodgy all the time but the UP from the passenger side is at the furthest point of the circuit with the highest load so it struggles. If it is then the suspect wire would be the black one in the hinge on the drive...

Re: Passenger Window Switch

The ground comes from the Drivers side switch both sides are earthed via that route, and the local passenger switch removes the connection on one side or the other and connects the local +12volt power to it. Ah that makes sense, I missed the GND connection coming through the disable switch on the d...

Re: Passenger Window Switch

I did some more testing. At the motor there is a green wire and a red wire. If I apply just 12v to one of these wires nothing happens. I have to apply 12v to one of them and GND to the other. When I push the switch down I get 12v on the green wire and a good GND connection on the Red wire. When I pu...

Re: the Power of Search

Excellent tip. I often struggle on searches, e.g. if you search for engine AND oil many results don't have oil in the thread at all.. never understood why The forum search ignores words that are 3 characters or less. If you search for oil on it's own then you get no results. If you search for oil l...

Re: Passenger Window Switch

Yup, that's right it will have a high resistance, so as soon as you try to draw current the voltage drops away! Just follow the Black/Red wire back along to find the source of the high resistance connection, its the common connection of the passenger side switch to +12volts. Thanks - wouldn't it us...

Re: Passenger Window Switch

Having studied the above wiring diagram, I'm happy with how most of it operates but I do have a few questions. I can see that the drivers side passenger window switch is the bit top right and the passenger side passenger window switch is the bit on the lower right of the diagram. I can see how it al...

Passenger Window Switch

I've started to have a look at why the passenger window switch doesn't work properly. From the drivers side switch it goes up and down perfectly. However from the passenger switch it only goes down not up. I have inspected the wiring in the hinges on both doors. The passenger side wiring looks perfe...

Re: Alarm connections

Nothing to stop you adding a single extra diode from the rear door to the same common point, then you would have a light to indicate an open door as well! Good point - strange that was never done from the factory. What gauge wire would it need to be for that run from the rear to the front? Thanks a...

Re: Alarm connections

Ok I have now found the diode pack and the relevant wires for the 2 front doors and the sliding door (thanks to some help from Jim!) I have ordered some diodes to connect up between. Am I best to wire a single diode to the red wire, as the other two are combined by that point? Or should I wire 2 sep...

Re: Manually operating electric blinds

Thanks for all the replies.

It does sound like it should be fine, but I have now moved the blinds over to the LB so will save manual movements for emergencies only!

Re: Remote Central Locking - Found original unit.

For future reference if anyone else finds themselves in the same situation... The RCL unit plugs into the harnes using a short harness of it's own. I chopped this in half to give me a nice way of plugging it in. There were 4 wires at the RCL unit. The Blue/Red wire is 12v The Black wired is GND The ...

Re: Remote Central Locking - Found original unit.

Phew - figured it out - all up and running - locks and unlocks off the remote. Just got to sort some of the other bits out now.

The alarm just rearms after a few seconds because it hasn't detected an open door. So need to get that side of things sorted too!

Re: Remote Central Locking - Found original unit.

OK - more reading up and testing done! It is a 4 wire reversal system. It has 12v, GND and 2 wires that go to the solenoid. You have to connect 12v to one of the wires to the solenoid and GND to the other. This then either locks or unlocks, reverse these wires and it does the other one. All the othe...

Re: Remote Central Locking - Found original unit.

Had a quick play and can't figure anything out! With the RCL unit disconnected I have 4 wires free to work with. There is 12v, GND and 2 that go to the solenoid. I tried connecting gnd to the 2 that go to the solenoid - nothing happened I tried connecting 12v to the 2 that go the solenoid - nothing ...
