Re: White smoke and chugging on start up!!
It wasn't just diesels with cold start issues in our recent mini-Siberia. I've got a high capacity heavy duty battery in tip top condition and (fortunately - considering the amount of cranking I had to do!), fully charged. I have had a couple of engine cut outs in the past, when I've hit standing w...

Re: Warm Rubber Smell !!!!!!
I think this one's come up before (more than once, or at least something similar involving hot/buring smells) with V6s. Can't remember the details or the eventual cure but worth having a search on here if not done already. Mike's on the right tracks here, we had the dreaded V6 smell :? turned out t...

I believe its 13 litres of 50/50 mix, either they haven't bled the system properly or you've got a serious leak

Re: Air Conditioning - not much heat from it
It could be your thermostat not closing fully. Has it ever been changed? This would be my first port of call to check  Heat output is nowt to do with the air con. Ive had 2 x 2.5 deisels.......cracking heaters on both Ive recently bought a 2ltr petrol......heater is just as good as the deisel...

Well its been over a week now since i had the bongo back, i can report that Andrew and the guys at A&S Garage have done me proud =D> and the bongo is running better than ever :D . The cam seals did indeed need replacing and some of the seeping oil had congelled thus the nasty whiff  I have...

Re: V6 cambelt change in Caerphilly
Ah - so it was yours I saw there. Looks like a tidy Bongo. We use A&S for the Bongo and now fow our little Wagon R. They always seem to offer a friendly and efficient service. It's a right pain for us to take the cars there on a work day (they're not exactly local to us), but I'd rather take th...

Re: V6 cambelt change in Caerphilly
Right , took bongo in on 18th, all stripped down, the 2 seals on the right bank are leaking (think this is the cause of our oily smell) :D so parts were ordered. Had phone call yesterday and the supplier had sent the wrong seals :o so its in the garage over the weekend  Mechanic has had a good ...

Re: advice buying new cylinder head
This is one of those things where the You Get What You Pay For rule applies. For £200 you get a basic head, probably a Chinese copy & likely to be for a Ford Ranger. In the £500 bracket you're paying for a fully built unit from a reputable source complete with camshaft, valves etc, ready to bol...
