Re: Clicking from solenoid
Ok update I have just tested the amperage draw using my meter. The battery was only receiving 0.02 pull, when parked, which I believe under 0.05 is normal. I then considered if the split charger was pulling amps when parked, no with this connected its 0.03.. I then started the van and all was well, ...

Re: Clicking from solenoid
Thanks for the diagram I'm just puzzled as to why the relay triggers closed causing the lights to actually turn on as the voltage drops. In the past my battery drained slowly with age but never exhibited the lights turning on. The van has been parked up for 2 weeks following its MOT so nothing has h...

Re: Clicking from solenoid
With the battery connected up as normal, the lights turn on and off as normal. It's as the battery discharges it triggers the relay to turn the lights on permanently. Tempted to buy a new relay as it seems that once voltage drops it turns the lights on which does not seem normal.

Re: Clicking from solenoid
Hello Geoff It's the head lights relay, the one closest the expansion tank. I disconnected the starter battery from vehicle as it was reading only 12.4 volts and the lights were on constantly so naturally had to remedy this. I connected the dollar panel to the starter battery over night in preparati...

Re: Advice re solar panel charging over winter
Hello the1andonly
That's some great advice thank you.
I have the MPPT/PSM controller, the vehicle is parked with the handbrake off under a car port, completely protected from direct sun light. I have just carried out a service, but heeding your advice I will inflate the tyres by an additional 10psi.

Re: Clicking from solenoid
Well sadly the problem has returned.. fully charged the battery, left it connected on a 40w solar panel to keep it topped up, but unfortunately this evening (2 days later) the relay once more commenced its continuous sound and the dip lights came on once more, even though the light switch is turned ...

Re: Clicking from solenoid
Hello G8dhe Problem sorted... fully charged the battery and refitted, initially the lights came on and the relay made a constant sound. Re: Clicking from solenoid
Nothing has been disconnected and no side light alarm was heard on exiting the van during day light hours when last used. I am giving the battery 24hrs on charge and will refit thereafter. Hopefully the lights and relay will return to normal, if not I will order a new relay and go from there

Re: Clicking from solenoid
The alarm sound was more a noise coming from the relay. As for the battery it's a bosch bought new in March this year. If it is the battery fortunately it came with a 4 year warranty

Clicking from solenoid
Hello all Need some advice please. Today I noticed a clicking coming from my van, upon investigation I deducted it was coming from the black solenoid mounted on the NS inner wing just in front of the expansion tank. Their are two solenoids located there as this one is closest to the expansion tank. ...

Hello all I am just seeking some advice re my solar panel set up.
