Front Nearside ABS Sensor Faulty

Hi all. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction with this. My Bongo has been living in a relatives driveway for a few months due to a family matter. Before that though, the ABS 4WD light came on whilst I was driving. Not all the time but most of the time. It will be due an MOT next week s...

Re: Bongo cut out, black smoke, ok on driveway

Sorry for radio silence. Life has been 'funny' as of late and the Bongo slipped down my list of priorities. I've been tinkering with the Bongo off and on and finally got it out of the drive last night for a quick drive. Bought a decent battery charger and got both batteries up to charge. Also checke...

Re: Bongo cut out, black smoke, ok on driveway

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible that a bad leisure battery could be causing this problem despite the starter battery being brand new? I'll try letting it run for a good 20 mins before attempting to drive it. Really paranoid about it cutting out and blocking the road again though.

Bongo cut out, black smoke, ok on driveway

Hi all. Hope someone can maybe point me in the right direction here. Due to circumstances my Bongo has sat on relatives drive for 4 months and hasn't moved. The Bongo is a 1998 Friendee and was originally winter pack. It looks like the converters changed it so the right hand side battery works as a ...

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Another update. Couldn't manage to get one of the connections off the old TPS so had to give in and get an auto elec place to do it. They sorted it quick but did comment that the 'stop solenoid' was spinning in place so made things difficult. Anyway, they fitted new TPS and so far the error hasn't c...

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Well, no chance of getting that nut undone. I really don't know how anyone has managed to do this. Will have to have someone replace this for me but will be interested in how they manage to get this connection done. There is no room at all to manoeuvre. Will keep this thread updated.

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Managed to get hold of a new TPS but still not sure if my one is faulty. Found an auto electrician that says he will have a look but it's more expense that could perhaps be avoided. Thinking about just replacing it myself and assuming it is playing up. It looks easy enough other than one nut to undo...

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Well I managed to get a brief reading from the TPS pin and it was 0.034V which is way under the idle measurement. The reading was very intermittent so who knows. I then went for a drive after adjusting the TPS slightly. I did around 10 miles with no real issues but I've had way more miles than that ...

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Thanks Geoff. I'll try that but I think my probes are a bit too short and thick for that.

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Thanks Geoff. I thought I had to push the connector back into place before measuring?

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Thanks Teenmal. As far as I was aware, after reading threads here, the only way to measure the voltage of the TPS was to do it at the ECU.

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Hi Geoff. I'm reasonably familiar with meters and have a 9V battery that I check to ensure all is working. Black into COM and red into V and meter set to 20V. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Just so I know for sure I'm not making a hash of things, can anyone confirm that the following is the correct process to measure the voltage of the TPS? Locate middle loom as seen here. https://i.imgur.com/7tOxPMY.jpg?1 Locate pin 2I which should be the TPS (diesel engine) Insert a wire to this pin ...

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Thanks again Geoff. You're a great help. I should have double checked that pin was for diesel. Regardless, I'm struggling to get my wire in that terminal alongside the other wire. Not sure where to go from here. Thanks.

Re: TPS error 12, replace or adjust?

Thanks again for taking the time. Got into ECU. Found pin as shown in following photo: https://i.imgur.com/up7zdGc.jpg Inserted wire into other side and plugged back in. There was already a wire in that pin so was hard to put my wire in alongside it. Couldn't be sure I was even making contact. Am I ...
