Re: The Rust Directory

Good looking job and all done when you couldn't have been out using it due to Covid19 but now looks like it'll be ready for when lockdown eases and the summer starts. Result! Can't remember what model it is and what you've done but make sure any metal pipes like the ones to rear heater and autobox<-...

Re: Hello & Thanks

That looks like a good product, Mike. Not seen it before, thanks. 8) I love it Bob and mainly because its so easy and quick to put on and polish off, and it doesn't cause white residue issues like the Mer type products. Which means I'm likely to get around to doing the job. Plus it really seems to ...

Re: Hello & Thanks

Welcome and glad you're having fun fettling the new Bongo. I always recommend taking special care of the white paintwork on white Bongos as i think it can get chalky and porous quiet easily (years of Japanese sun and I don't think it has a protective lacquer like the metallic paint has). Waxying can...

Re: Few more words on edible oil as a fuel

Is it technically possible and sensible to use edible oil as a fuel for cars? The shortest answer is yes, but under the right conditions. To begin with, we need to distinguish between two ways of doing things. The first is to produce the methyl ester of this oil. In a nutshell, it consists of preci...

Re: Under seat sliding drawer

No not at all, it's a snug fit, plus I fitted the wheels so they had a very slight drag on them to prevent them moving in transit.. You could just fit two at the back as in practice you lift the front part to drag it out. Two at the back it is then, thanks for the tip. The rail approach was super q...

Re: Shakespeare and Sprouts

Wasn't it tapioca that was frogspawn, semolina is more like readimix concrete :D I found most school meals ok but boiled cabbage and their sliced beef (from our old friend the elastic cow) you had to fold about 15 times to make it stay on the fork were a particularly bad memory. That'll have been s...

Re: new member

Welcome Steve and hope you have lots of fun with the Bongo. These days I think a thorough eyes wide open search / assessment of corrosion is at the top of the to-do list. The Bongo is a great design but I recall hearing its design life in Japan was 10 years (they don't keep cars anything like as lon...

Re: Halfords Oil

Yes, thanks Ady. Really good info. Mike, nicely put, I've long thought a lot of modern stuff is just too clever for me. :? Too clever for its own good if you ask me Bob. I'm sure its all done by marketing intention and to seduce, but in the end (as in my case when thinking of getting a new smartpho...

Re: Halfords Oil

Halfords are doing oil half price, with free delivery, just now. Depends what you buy, but about £17.00 for 4 ltrs of Castrol Magnatec. Thanks for the heads up Bob. Just had a look and for 5w/30 there's an A5, a C2 and a C3 type of oil. Jeebers i don't know which to get ha ha. If you or anyone know...

Welcome. From what I've read its worth checking than control connector rods in drivers footwell have not become disconnected. But others who know more than me will hopefully comment soon.
