Re: starter motor

Perhaps you've fixed this already, but do check what kind of starter you have before ordering the kit. This weekend past, just 5 weeks after sale, my starter started clicking. I was hasty and ordered the contact kit from eBay before discovering that I have the heavy duty starter which can't be repai...

Re: Boot door out of alignment?

I took a bunch of photos, but it's not worth posting them as I think I worked it out. The van wasn't parked level - about a 8 inches to the right of where I normally park it, so it was tilting to the left, ever so slightly. The door must therefore have been leaning to one side, accounting for...

Re: Boot door out of alignment?

Have you checked that the striker plate, and the actual tailgate isn't loose? I pulled and rocked stuff (gently). All bolts seated home, no daylight and no play that I could find. No marks to indicate that something had slipped. Just had a thought though... I was climbing out of the boot, a...

Boot door out of alignment?

After arriving home and emptying the luggage, I noticed that the boot is no longer closing properly. The catch on the boot lid is rubbing just before the catch engages - and it feels as if there is also a slight sideways movement before it seats home (I'm talking about 1/8" of an inch). It shut...

2.5TD AT rev counter needle

I've driven two Bongos, and the rev counter behaved differently in each. In mine, I'll drive along at 40 or 50mph in top gear, and approaching a junction, back off the gas - right off. The rev counter needle drops to the same angle as the speedo, and then they drop down together - always the same an...

Re: 2.5 TD - not really pulling as well as it should

They have a habit of splitting along the seam.... I noticed mine was going when i removed it to cut when fitting a turbo gauge.. I replaced it with a new length with the same internal diameter as an unfitted to the nipple cut section.. though the wall to the new section on the pipe was slightly thi...

Re: 2.5 TD - not really pulling as well as it should

Hi, munroman. 1) You seem to be getting very good fuel consumption, could it be that the Bongo is running a bit 'lean', i.e. short on fuelling? I don't know. I was pretty light on the throttle though, as pushing it harder seemed to give lots of noise and not a lot else. 2) You mention breaking an Al...

Re: 2.5 TD - not really pulling as well as it should

Can you see the hose on here...? Aye! Unless I'm mistaken it's the thin tube running fore-aft just above the letter 'B'. Spurred on and sober, I can now see 93-4104 on http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/code=1320C&cat=a2ajra05&vin=&imgno=.html and http://www.lushprojects.com/bong...

Mine is 4wd. Don't know about the other, but it was converted (heavier?) whereas mine is a straight 8 seater. I think the hose has helped, but I doubt whether I'm finished tinkering yet.

Re: 2.5 TD - not really pulling as well as it should

Should have said that I've clicked through some of the parts diagrams on lushprojects.com, and searched the forum for vacuum advance, but I hope you'll forgive me for not really knowing what I'm looking for.

2.5 TD - not really pulling as well as it should

I got to drive a 'courtesy Bongo' today, and it was a heck of a lot more lively than my own. I had suspicions during the pre-sale test drive of my Bongo that the turbo wasn't giving me what I thought it should. I think I can hear the turbo spinning up ok, but there's no oomph. Fuel/banjo filter are ...

AFT Microswitch (Omron D2FW-G)

The D2FW-G073M is a 0.1A SPST NO short leaf microswitch that I reckon is the match for the four AFT microswitches. Farnell do this. The D2FW-G071M is the SPDT version, RS Electronics do this. Firstly, can anyone confirm the part selection, and/or suggest alternative(s)? Both parts quoted above are U...

Taken from http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/fox_ar ... .htm#tyres:

A: 32 on the front, 34 at the rear. And if you are towing a caravan, 36 front and 40 rear.

Seeing the update yesterday on the members' page, perhaps the guy was referring to the number of allocated pitches.

Anyway, as I'm not going, I'll shut up. #-o

Stopped in at Shell Bay for a walk on the beach today - what a place! I'm so gutted I can't make it!
