Re: How to prevent rusty rear arches, sills

The sills don't usually rust unless damaged, providing the rear arches are good. The inner arch and outer arch start to come apart this let's water in which expands the spot welded seam further until rust gets going.as the wheel arch lets in water it collects down on the sill this then rusts through...

Check the cabin sensor on the dash, they are a fluff magnet. Quick clean out may help.

Re: MOT jobs :(

A good crack with a stout hammer on the swivel where the ball joint goes through should make it drop out.

Cycling injuries would be minimized if they put spam crash bale's on the mountain corner descents. It was a tad mad at 4.30 this morning with a loaded fuel artic, I wasn't quite up there, but nearby, around 100 artic's stuck near Rochdale coss one of them lost the plot.!!. Bongo bleeding memories, a...

Re: MOT jobs :(

Check the overall condition of the wishbone before going to the effort of swapping just the ball joint, they can rust through from the inside, they look ok but can break, also the inner bushes may need a refresh, blue print brand are good value and quality.

Re: Folding seat query - novice Bongo owner!

Looks like it Geoff but it's usually at the rear of the slider to stop the rear seat hitting the rear window. Maybe someone moved it, try hook / lifting it out, it lays in the bottom of the runner

Re: 2.5td cutting out when cold

The vac pipes can collapse when they get old or have been swapped with thin walled pipe especially when warmed up. One I did work on years ago had similar issues. Start from the pump and the feed pipe to the solenoids, this comes up the back of the injector pump in metal and can get flattened or dam...

Re: 2l Oily Residue

Looks like the rocker cover gasket is due for replacing. Don't be tempted to nip up the bolts a tad to solve it as they are set to a specific torque setting, the gasket heats up and age harden so replace is the best option. It's normal at this time of year to top up your bongo coolant system as the ...

Re: Vibration at 30mph

Literally just grab the prop and try to twist it or lift it. You don't say if it's 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. 2 wheel drives are know to wear the prop the uj joints fail. 4 wheel drives are also known to knock. On the back of the gearbox is a big lump of rubber, this is an anti vibration damper, make...
