Re: broken bongo :(

Mine did something similar but it was the gearbox in its final death throes.

Re: 18.4 mpg - is this the worst ?

May/May not be relevant but I've leapt from 230 miles per tank to 270+ (Well over 330 on a gentle long run) since sticking a 2wd box in my 4wd motor.

Same van, same driving style on the same regular routes.

That extra 40 miles is like getting diesel at 20% off!!

Re: Bongo Bash(ed)

Bummer.

Bell Hill or Jerry at Newbury are the best bets. Very little point in trying to find a cheap fix as it will cost more in the long run & you know these guys will do a proper job and not stitch you up.

At least you can post pics now so it ain't all bad.

Re: Loud crash & lacking power

Rear diff might have given up.

I had similar symptoms a few months back when mine crunched.

Not a relatively expensive repair though . . .

Best of luck.

Re: RX 8 alloy wheels

On ebay you can get a set of Chrome Bongo wheel nuts fairly cheaply that fit the RX8s but suggeest you also get a set of locking wheel nuts too . . . .

Re: alternator ??

Charge & Sediment light IS a shot alternator. It matters not how many batteries or what kind of set-up you have.

Don't chance buying a cheap replacement ebay one. most will only last a week.

Re: Radically Uneven Front Tyre Wear . . .

New front boots are now on but K***fit can't tackle the tracking 'cos the Bongo ain't in their 'pooter.

Anyone know the paramaters off the top of their head?

Re: Radically Uneven Front Tyre Wear . . .

Outside edges are a bit on the lumpy side, camber looks fine but will get tracking checked. Could this be related to now being a 2WD running on a 4WD set-up or are they both the same?

This has all happened in the last 2000 miles or so - since the gearbox transplant . . . .

A basic fluid & filter change would be popular no doubt. Its easier than it seems.
