Re: Anyone know what this is??
The scavenger fan has its own sensor positioned under the handbrake poking into the engine compartment and feeds into the ECU.

Re: Loud knocking noise
The wheels your looking for bulges on the inside normally unseen side. The propshaft has various universal junctions and supports that can break, if you search on propshaft there have been a couple of recent reports which have included pictures of the problems one here https://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/...

Re: Loud knocking noise
Welcome aboard!
Probably worth taking a good look around the wheels especially the back side and prop shafts, you don't say if its related to road speed or engine speed, but most probably road speed I guess. There have been several reports of late of the prop shaft fittings and supports breaking.

Re: Reverse camera fitting
The signal (+12v) comes from the gear selector, it goes to the dashboard, the back of the radio and also to the reversing light at the back of the vehicle, you can pick it up where ever is convenient but the normal place is the radio as all the rest of the wiring goes to the back of the radio, which...

Re: Anyone know what this is??
Just an after market add on looks to be measuring the temperature of the pipe in the third picture and then the dial in the first picture controls when the thermostat switches the electrical contacts over, you would need to follow the wires back from the socket its plugged into, unless its already b...

Re: Low fuel warning light, if fitted, where is it
The wiring Manuals for May 1995 do not show it at all. However by November 1997 release of the Manuals it is shown as being present, the precise date when it was added is unknown however!
Its located on the light panel top right of the dashboard;

Re: The Rust Directory
If it came through after having had the underseal applied then they may have got a good coating (which is all that is visible) but it sounds like there was moisture trapped underneath the underseal which has continued to rust away the metal from behind. To apply a new outer coat of paint then yes yo...

Re: The Rust Directory
Welcome! Nothing stops rust long term :-( It will depend on exactly how well done the original repair was done, it might have been a quick job with filler to a full cut out and replace and total re-spray style. Most of the rust comes from the fact that being Japanese vehicles they don't under seal o...

Re: USA bongo mechanical help
Welcome, but I'm afraid to say that this Forum really only deals with the Mazda Bongo Friendee / Ford Freda These don't use the RF engine at all, only the WL-T 2.5l TD diesel, FE-E 2l petrol or J5-DE the V6 2.5l petrol.

Re: Oil leak on v6 passenger side??
All the engines seem to suffer from small oil leaks, provided your not having to up an excessive amount I wouldn't get massively worried most people seem to have dirty engines, just make sure that its not leaking onto other critical items like the leads or belts themselves. You can clean the oil off...

Re: Rough Idle / Vibration
These video's aren't visible and really we need more info like which of the three engine types your friend has there are 2 petrol types and a diesel, then the 3 different styles of roof. There can be many causes for shaking and rough running! Has it been checked for damaged tyres especially on the i...

Re: Leisure Battery
The minimum worthwhile power is 100Watt panel, personally I would go for roof mounting. Be aware that devices on eBay and the like are rather suspect quality see my previous posts that still apply https://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?p=679313#p679313 I should also suggest if your concer...
