Re: Testing Bongo friendly garage - East Linton

Well, it seems the waterpump had a slight leak ... they had thought that might be the problem and put on a new one I had 'in stock'. This didn't cure things. However, I had thought about half a hour before it overheated, that the heating seemed to be working better than it had ever worked before. Pr...

Testing Bongo friendly garage - East Linton

:( Well I should have said nothing! Driving home last week and the Bongo overheated .. had it stopped within a minute. Took it to my local garage who, as I identified a few weeks ago and posted on here, seem to know their way round a bongo. They have just told me that either the head is cracked or g...

Re: Alarm

Mike - keep the pin code safe and practice the 'no-fob' method for disarming the immobiliser - if it has one. Usually turning the key on and off and watching the LED flash or something. Matt: Yes .. it has this system so I'll practice it. Tony: It also has the facility that means you can switch it ...

Re: Alarm

Just a thought: maybe don't give away too much info on here about the type of alarm & how it's fitted as you never know whether your local car thief is researching their next acquisition  Never thought of that. I'll give a full report in person at the next Scottish gathering I make it to...

East Lothian Bongo expertise

Have discovered that Allens' garage in East Linton know their way round a Bongo. In conversation with one of the mechanics he was well versed in the eccenticities of the beasties! Had replaced diesel pump seals a couple of times, for instance. Not had the need to put my Bongo in for anything myself ...

Alarm

In the interests of keeping my Bongo mine (an important issue in and around Edinburgh) I am having an alarm fitted tomorrow. Autowatch 457 ... Thatcham 1 etc with a few handy features.

Will report back on how it all works out!

Re: Red Squirrel Meet this Winter

Won't know until Friday if I can come or not as an essential trip to Aberdeen is on the cards too ...so it will be a case of expect me if you see me!

Meanwhile, heading out to see Colin, who now has Tonys' Bongo. I think he is busy next weekend but will pass on the details.

Re: Coolant Flush

Well .. I am thinking everything must be ok as I have driven around 120 miles round the borders today. All seems to be as it should. Heaters working and getting the cabin tropical. No hisses and gurgles.

Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Coolant Flush

Hi Folks ... I have not used the Bongo since the coolant flush ... apart from checking the level next morning and all looked well. Not going to make the Red Squirrel trip this weekend and busy next week so may be a wee while before I get the chance to give it a decent run ... not that I anticipate t...
