Re: LPG

Couple of interesting points ..

Strangely .. although LPG powered vehicles cannot use the Channel tunnel .. 'normal' fueled vehicles with LPG cookers / heating can ..

Maybe the gas conversion will have to be fitted / certified by some one like UKLPG for insurance 'modified' purposes though .. ??

Re: LPG

I suggest you use an UKLPG certified converter as close to where you live as possible as it is more convenient for servicing / lap top tune ups if they are local .. and the conversion is automatically entered onto the UKLPG data base for insurance purposes .. LPG tank fits where the spare wheel fitt...

Re: Broken roof clasp -Sky lift roof

I 'gifted' my JAL /V6 to a grandson (who is not very mechanically minded) .. he fitted it the two onto the mushroom roof OK ..

Filled the recess with Vaseline to keep the locks / posts lubed

Re: Lots of clatter but no damage? How come?

Unlike the diesels the 2litre and 2.5 litre petrol engines are not an interference fit .. so maybe sufficient room between pistons and valves to get away without any serious damage .. One of the reasons if a cam belt 'goes' on the petrol engines .. you should be able to fit a new cam belt and be on ...

Re: Replacing the two batteries from the engine compartment

When you say "camper van" are you saying it is converted with cooker / sink / fridge etc:..?? Some Bongos have two starter batteries .. as you are saying both batteries have the same number I would check .. Usually a Camper as a starter battery (drivers side) and a leisure battery on the p...

Re: ATF Leak 200 miles from home!!

57 years of riding / driving and I have never once had to call for help / rescue .. always sorted issues out and got home under my own steam ..!! A month after having a triple by pass and with a motor bike in the back of my Estima I had a blow out just as I was about to get on the motorway .. all I ...

Re: ATF Leak 200 miles from home!!

My Toyota Estima is a similar mid engine to the Bongo .. The fluid cooler pipes go from the radiator to the gear box and on mine the two pipes (flow and return) where about five foot long and they corroded pumping out Dexron3 ATF .. I changed mine for new .. It was a bugga of a job threading 5 foot ...

Re: MOT History Query

118,130 kms equates to nearly 74 thousand miles My own opinion is to go for a motor with a (110 /20) MPH face as opposed to one that is 180 MPH .. With after market "stick over" 110 MPH faces the odo still reads in kilometers covered from the day it left the Factory . 180 MPH faces tend to...

Re: Moving on

I like you have moved on .. I now have a Toyota Alphard.. Had my V6 Bongo for over five trouble free years .. gifted it onto a grandson (who loves it) so it's still in the family.. Strange thing is ... I still feel part of the Bongo community .. contribute on BF and FB when I can .. and even went to...

Re: Bongo Gearbox Fluid Change

I put my valve block / debris filter in the dishwasher came out like brand new ..

There are garages now with vacuum cleaning systems that 'flush' out the old auto fluid .. I assume via the cooler pipes going to the bottom of the radiator ..
