Re: Lumpy starting

As you've had a sediment light on, I'd say first suspect is fuel filter & check for leaks while you're at it, then start looking at glow plugs, maybe give them a bit longer before starting.

Re: Correct Tyre Pressures Yet Again........!

So explain to me why, when I have tried bongos on the Mazda stated pressures on tyres bought in the uk (not van tyres either) they have virtually been sat with the rims on the ground & would have destroyed the tyres in no time, let alone been dangerous to drive on? As I have said before, I am n...

Re: Paint code for the Silver on lower half

Clearcoat = lacquer coat? ie not coloured? Just trying to get across to the OP that the paint codes in no way refer to silent silver or highlight silver being used as a primer or under coat with the "colour" coat (eg neat green) being sprayed over the top of a silver coat. Arguing about te...

Re: Clutch release bearing - where to buy?

Re the power steering, if it needed topping up, it's leaking somewhere, keep an eye on the level, chyances are it's a relatively easy fix, may be worth trying some power steering stop leak, if not, it's usually the top pinion seal, which can be replaced in situ, this thread should help - http://www....

Re: Paint code for the Silver on lower half

Ok - this is getting confusing! The fact sheet regarding paint colours states 14D is Greece Green - there is no reference to it being over anything - so I'm taking it that Greece Green is a "solid" colour - not requiring a metallic base coat (Highlight Silver or Silent Silver) #-o There i...

Re: Paint code for the Silver on lower half

Yeah, but not a green coat over a silver coat to give the required finish as the OP was saying  , the colour itself is one colour on top a normal primer isn't it?

Re: Correct Tyre Pressures Yet Again........!

Just out of interest a lot of us run our bongos on 215's all round, I find it gives better handling, one thing tho it tends to make the speedo run about 5mph faster than you are actually doing, fine for speed cameras etc, lol. The width ie 215 has no bearing on the speedo, it's the profile (ie heigh...

Re: Correct Tyre Pressures Yet Again........!

You've pretty much answered your own question  There is no right & wrong as such - it depends on the tyres/load etc, as long as you are not over inflating the tyres (they may have a maximum pressure stamped on them, or you should be able to check it online or by phone from the manufacturer...

Re: Paint code for the Silver on lower half

I think the codes that are colour 'x' over colour 'y' means it's one of those pearlescent paints that require a metallic base coat under the main colour. On the Paint factsheet 14D is quoted as Greece Green - not over anything - so it's not one of these pearlescent colours which has a silver base c...

Re: Is she Really Dead?

Coolant from the rad while you are driving is muchly cooled if it's working, therefore cooled water entering the stat - it's how the system works to control the engine temp, if there was no cooler coolant it would just keep overheating & you wouldn't need a radiator to cool the coolant  Th...

Re: Is she Really Dead?

WTF???? DO NOT drill a hole in the stat, you will create more problems, YEEE HAAA [-X [-X it won't create problems but it will take longer to warm up in the cooler months i used to run a drilled stat in my 217bhp RS Turbo back in the late 80's as did most people with tuned turbo'ed cars with no pro...

Re: Is she Really Dead?

its not the rad I think because I can squeeze the hose at the bottom with the pressure cap and water squirts out- so fluid is getting through. Pipes get pressurized when engine turning and all sealed up. There is no heat in pipes after thermostat even though iv replaced it.(posted by husband in mou...

Re: Is she Really Dead?

Have you tried putting the cold thermostat into a jug of boiling water to see if it opens, did he replace the stat with a genuine mazda item, i think when replacing a stat its worth drilling a 4mm hole in the stat to ensure water flow yeah it'll take longer to warm up but atleast you know that wate...
