Re: New Alloys
If nothing else, that highlights the importance of ensuring a 4WD has the same rolling circumference on all tyres. Even fitting a couple of new tyres on one axle while leaving part-worn on the other can put unnecessary strain on the diff and transfer box. Modern electronically controlled AWD systems...

Re: Hook up query
I used to have one under the rear bumper but found even with a protective cap on it would a good dunking in muck from the road & would often have water inside when taking the cap off. Not ideal when you're plugging 240V into it. http://www.vwcampervanity.co.uk/VeeDub%20Pics/Shop/ElecShop/hookups...

Re: Wheel Hubs
Hubs or hub caps/wheel trims? I think I've got a set of genuine Mazda wheel trims in the garage somewhere if of interest to you? Will try to get some photos over next few days.

Re: DIESEL PUMP AND TIMMING
I could say it was my amazing powers of deduction, but in reality I was in there the other week getting a quote for a shower enclosure & noticed your name on some paperwork on the counter. It rang a bell when I noticed on your post you were in Salisbury. I've just been on the phone to Andrew Bla...

Re: DIESEL PUMP AND TIMMING
Gary, I used to take my previous diesel Bongo to Bellhill Garage (near Trowbridge) as they are very experienced with these engines so might be able to assist. By the way, you don't happen to work for a well known plumbing supply company on Churchfields do you ?

Re: 2.0 ltr facelift Bongo cigerette lighter
There's one in the n/s grey trim panel just above the cubby hole thing in the rear quarter panel. It's powered from a switched supply from the starter battery is only suitable for lower power devices as the wiring is quite thin. There is not one on the o/s.

Re: Engine and Gearbox dipstick diameter
If its a genuine Pela, such as the 6 litre one, you should find the smaller pipe will comfortably fit engine and gearbox (or at least it did with mine). If it's a Pela copy (Silverline, etc) then I've no experience of those alternatives.

Re: What coolant?
If the coolant is going to be changed anyway then tap water would be fine for topping up.

Re: What coolant?
Conventional coolant has a lifespan of 2 years so of it's been sat for a couple of years it really should be drained, flushed and replaced. If the level has dropped over that period then there is a possibility of a leak somewhere.

The diff oil is standard SAE90 gear oil which is readily available for EuroCarParts, Halfords etc. You need about 1.4 litres for the rear.

Re: MOT certificate says miles not km
P.s. I was looking at the gov.uk MOT checker, perhaps that automatically translates odometer readings to miles? Or perhaps I am being optimistic... You are :). Unfortunately you're at the mercy of the MOT tester & what ever he decides to type into the system but by default it will be assumed to...

Re: Changing front map or courtesy light bulbs
Bear in mind that if you have an alarm that is triggered by voltage drop caused by the interior lights coming on when the doors are opened that it may not trigger due to the low current drain.

Re: battery monitor the lazy way
All well and good, but the device that tells you have a voltage drain is draining the battery itself to tell you about it:)
