Re: Do you use your bongo as your main vehicle?
My only vehicle, its the size of most cars, good turning circle, so why not, no car is going to give good mileage on short runs anyway. 2nd that. Its been my only car since 2006 and daily commute until I retired in 2017. The only downside is taking it a distance to be looked after and some years, h...

Re: Virus Malware Be aware
Disturbing news. I am with 2gether and have been for many years. I have also, for many years, been receiving highly unwelcome calls on my mobile (a number i never knowingly agree to be given out and used). Its always a girl with an Essex'y accent who starts with "Hello. We've been told you was ...

Re: John Sheldrick (Francophile1947) RIP
Just read this and was shocked and saddened. He was one of the giants of the Bongo world when I started on here many years back and I had many great banters with him. My sincere condolences to his family. RIP John.

Re: Bongos in Japan
We used to import them, about 12 -15 years ago. Many were cherished family cars. They're popular for escaping from the city, to the country. Of the many, two that stood out were one that had one that had been owned by a Geisha firm in Kyoto. It was black, gleaming, with lots of chrome accessories. ...

Re: Anxiety over changing the cam belt - 2.5 diesel.
As I said.... You do not need to remove the glow plugs to change a cam belt, the reason some people might remove them is to turn the engine over easier, but it is not required and could lead to complications. If you realy want to remove the glow/heater plugs and it would make you feel better that i...

Re: UK National Bash Cancelled
Well, we know where we would all be setting of for today, or at least loading up to travel for the weekend. Sickener that campsites can open in a few days, but that doesn't mean as we know them, and there was no choice making the decision. Let's be thankful for our family, friends, Bongos, and all ...

Re: Travelling as lockdown slowly lifted?
Very interesting post Karen and lots to think about there. It will be interesting to see what happens in terms of support for rural communities who need the return of visitors for their economic wellbeing but who need measures in place to control the risks that visitors bring. Hope you're keeping we...

Re: AFT color
Does any one know what the paint colour for the grey fibreglass in the AFT. Never have seen / heard what paint colour it is and it almost seems more like a pigmented gel coat than a paint. People seem to have redone it successfully using everything from ordinary vehicle spray paint to ( from memory...

Re: Travelling as lockdown slowly lifted?
As I see it the main problem is the campsite facilities. Toilet and shower blocks would have to remain closed. Or perhaps restricted to one-at-a-time followed by an immediate deep clean of all surfaces. What i find interesting about all this is that i can see the govt having to underwrite new job c...

Re: sliding door and flat battery.
Isolating the battery is only a good idea IF there is a parasitic drain on a temporary basis.?? I've tended to suggest it when a person is having trouble establishing if there is a parasitic drain and/or where its coming from. In that situation, getting a new battery and having it tell you there is...

Re: Bongo birthday
My dad was a Lanc pilot and I was told many stories by his crew. Mike, my uncle was a tail gunner in a Lanc. He never really settled afterwards and ended up in NZ. We're lucky to only be asked to sit at home and wait out a virus. So true. I think my dad joined for the adventure but i suspect he dem...

Re: Travelling as lockdown slowly lifted?
You can drive anywhere in England for exercise or 'leisure purposes' there appears to be no legislative restrictions on how far you may travel, you are not supposed to stay elsewhere other than your home address overnight though. I will be using the Bongo again to go walking and cycling on my own o...

Re: sliding door and flat battery.
A crude workaround could be to disconnect a battery terminal when bongo not in use (or fit an isolating battery terminal as its then very quick to isolate the battery). Hopefully Geoff may give his thoughts on this (and best type of isolating terminal). My other question for Geoff and the techies is...
