Re: Houston we have a problem.
Got it in one Mike, the view will be missed the most and as it runs 100% veg equals about 50mpg. We are going to look at a Honda cr-v this afternoon, when I listed the spec to the salesman, cat 1 alarm, cruise control, air lift suspension, body kit and 17” alloys I’m thinking do I really want to do...

Re: Houston we have a problem.
Well Guys and Girls it looks like this instalment will be the last. Still running fine, still loosing coolant, at this stage I would normally whip the head off and keep going until I have found the problem. Age and health have forced me to make a reality check. I need to sell my race car to make ro...

Re: Houston we have a problem.
Ok, update, I’ve taken onboard the helpful comments, thanks guys. As the pressure holds up for hours after stopping I assumed if there is a leak it seals when hot. So I did cold pressure test and it wouldn’t hold. As Ady says there are lots of potential leak points that are difficult to view, but c...

Re: Houston we have a problem.
Hi, you say...no loss of coolant from tank...confused !! Could you be weeping from some HOT area and being steamed off?? I wouldn't have thought you could survive 35000 without it getting dramatically worse. I assume yOur tank float system is defo sealed. Have you checked underneath the tank for cr...

Houston we have a problem.
Houston we have a problem. I wrote that in my notebook in mid 2011 at 84400miles. The Bongo had been loosing coolant albeit only slight for 15000 miles before that. Well it is still running and It’s driving me mad. The amount of coolant disappearing has risen slowly but the loss doesn’t equal milea...

Re: Oversized wheels
Another plus point of 225 55 17 tyres is that they keep the rim above most kerbs.

Re: spraying mirrors
Depends if they are painted already, if so just sand down P800 wet or dry or p500 dry free cut paper and red scotchbrite. Only need priming if you sand through the original paint. If they are bare plastic, rub with red scotchbrite, thorougly clean, apply plastic adhesion primer, then prime with eit...

Re: trouble starting but not electrics..........
As fitting a pump has cured the problem it points to the front seal as NB has said, however another possibility is a partially blocked tank filter....

Re: Oversized wheels
Hi, I also fitted larger wheels a few years ago after reading Torchwoods post. It isn’t the larger wheels that can cause a problem it is the aspect ratio of the tyres. I fitted 225/55/17 to my 2 wheel drive Bongo, if I remember correctly it raises the overall gearing by about 5% with no fouling pro...

Re: Engine smoke and leakage
A leaky IP will not be full of fuel on start up from cold, this will cause miss firing and smoke. The front seal doesn’t normally produce a leak when it is giving problems. The side or rear o rings are normally the culprit, however it is best to take the IP off and replace them all. It can be done ...
