Re: The Ideal Diode / Leisure battery switch, charging thingy
You need to read the spec sheets with a lot of care however, especially with high current devices as many parameters are calculated using pulse currents rather than continous. For instance the Abs. Max.rating is 333 Watts, the Continous Source current is 202A ( which is where the note comes into pla...

Re: The Ideal Diode / Leisure battery switch, charging thingy
What about this one http://uk.farnell.com/international-rectifier/irf1404pbf/mosfet-n-40v-162a-to-220/dp/8648018 162 Amps and RDS is only 0.004Ohm. Surely that package can't handle 162A #-o If you read the spec sheet it can't; " Calculated continuous current based on maximum allowable junction...

Re: The Ideal Diode / Leisure battery switch, charging thingy
FETs are great at low currents but are resistive and this will limit the charging current. Dave Huh ? If you think you need to charge a L/B at greater than 95A then this one won't be adequate! but you will need to generate an adequate Vgs I guess or use a P channel FET instead like this one which w...

Re: VR3 Reversing camera - any good?
Could you not mount the VR3 camera inside the brake light housing and just have it looking out of a hole much like my cable hole ? Or even mounted inside the reversing mirror cover on the rear - not sure how the cover comes off however!

Re: VR3 Reversing camera - any good?
There are some reviews on the net; http://tinyurl.com/3yx92j http://tinyurl.com/5phva5 http://tinyurl.com/58s6vf None of them are raving over the camera. My own experience says it should have a wide angle of view which it does have, but should be mounted up high so that you can look down on the scen...

In some conversions they move the controls into the cupboards below, ours has been done that way, and do get knocked sometimes when the rations are being loaded

Re: "FLOPPY" Wing Mirror
Is that not 6v Geoff? Does that matter or not? 'Lectrics are a foriegn tongue to me! Yes it does matter, but I gave the wrong link  it was all part of the same data sheet which does include 12v versions as well, also 18v ones that could quite happily be underrun with no problems. The data she...

Re: "FLOPPY" Wing Mirror
Have you tried Farnell this looks similar but does have 12mm spaced fixings.haydn callow wrote:It's all the right dimensions excepy the mounting holes are 15mm apart instead of 12mm.
£21 is a lot if it won't do the job but do I risk it ??

Re: Flat Battery
I have put the charged L/B back on the vehicle and did same test as S/B reading obtained 0.38 Hum, if that was 0.38 Amps then its worrying, as that would typically flatten your L/B in about 6 days on its own and nothing else should have been drawing current. You need to identify where that current ...

Re: Flat Battery
Steve, That sounds like good news. The current being drawn is just about OK (its 40mA), but as Dave above says may well lead to a flat battery over some significant time - but a this stage don't get to worried by it. The fact that the charging lead was loose, has my attention ! I would suggest that ...

Re: Flat Battery
Steve - It sounds like you could have more than one problem to fix, with both batteries draining. Start by simplifying the system - If the L/B is at 7.3 volts, then its not going to be doing anything at the moment - it might even have been damaged. So take it out of the vehicle and put it on a seper...

Re: Tow Bar and reversing sensors
Our Bongo has the original fitted sensors, 3 corners and two rear facing ones. After fitting a towing bar, primarily for use by a Thule Easybase we knew that the two rear facing sensors would be blocked. So I decided it would be worth extending a pair onto the new number bracket - I couldn't locate ...

Re: Roof won't go up
The usual culprits are Ignition on and a good idea to have the engine running, vital is to have Handbrake on and to check that the switch is actually operating its visible when you take the console cover off.
Good luck!

Re: hole in the roof
If you don't mind the extra cable run, then if you run it to the back of the vehicle in the roof, remove the cabling blank (slotted plastic blank on each side of roof lining), then you can easily reach the existing grommet thru the roof that the AFT cabling takes. Then your free to run it up behind ...
