Check the three pin connectors to lights themselves, they are a plastic design which suffer badly after many years when the connector pins fail, overheat and then melt the plastic! The indicators are just a pulsed 12 volt feed to the indicator lamps, so just need to pickup the two feeds.

Most likely area is the distributor cap itself, then the leads to each spark plug and the king lead to the actual HT generator, these are the parts that are likely to get moist and allow the spark to jump to earth rather than reach the spark plugs themselves.
