Fuel Consumption Calculators

What's the MPG like? Can I use chip fat and veggie oil? What about LPG?

There are certainly free Android apps such as 'Fuel Log' & 'Fuel Economy' which you can run on suitable smartphones. Both support multiple vehicles & you can mix & match miles & Km too which is handy if Bongo odometer is still in Km.

I use fuel log on android - it's a great little app and as Simon mentioned I use non consistent units km and litres inputs with mpg output.

If anybody has had a problem downloading the .EXE versions of the program since Mid-Jan 2012, the problem has now been fixed, and the .EXE versions can be downloaded, the .ZIP versions were not affected by the problem (A server motherboard change was the initial cause of the problem. ).

it's a shame that the bongo does not have an OBDii port. I have a Garmin Nuvi sat nav that links to the ecoroute HD connector attached to my subaru's OBDii port - it measures the actual fuel flow rate and calculates mpg in real time and graphs it out. Although it has a nasty side effect, when you stop and switch off - it tells you the actual cost of the fuel used which, being a subaru and a bongo owner can be quite frightening!

I use "Fuel Economy Calculator" from the Apple app store. I find it very useful as it can be used in miles or kms, and you can have any number of vehicles on it. It works out all the usual averages, mpg, monthly fuel costs etc and will also calculate estimated journey costs, based on mpg and your average fuel cost.
It certainly makes me drive more economically, as I continually try to beat my mpg or tank range record! :D

How I calculate it is: I fill up until it clicks, knowing I'm full. I reset the trip clock and the next time I fill up to full I take readings of the amount of Liters fill and the trip journey. After that its this:

[Distance in KM]
[Liters filled] / [Price Per Liter] / [Cost in £]
[Liters Filled] / [UK Gallon 4.54] = [Gallons]
[Distance KM] / 1.6 = [Distance in Miles]
[Distance in Miles] / [Gallons]
= [Miles per Gallon]

Best I've ever got to date was 33.56mpg with Millers additive & the Hydra stuff.

At todays prices I no longer look or care and use the tapping method to pay, all I know is we're being robbed blind by 'our' govt and I probably get somewhere near 30 mpg.
