How many KMs on a tank full of Diesel?

What's the MPG like? Can I use chip fat and veggie oil? What about LPG?

Hi,
It depends on the vehicles fuel consumption really, but I would think about 450/460.

Carrying a 4/5 litre container of fuel would be a good safeguard.

Cheers..

My experience more resembles the 450 experience - mainly 10 mile trips to and from work in rush hour. I once got 520 on a run to Dover but it was a bit nervy towards the end.

I should point out that I'm regularly overtaken by old ladies in Morris Minors!

I'd go with 450 as a good average, our record is 630. If I didn't have a fuel gauge though I wouldn't push it past 400.

The diesel Bongo has a self-priming fuel system - most useful I'm sure you'll find

I haven't had a fuel gauge for over a year now (don't ask!) and I work on 360miles for general day to day use of mainly long trips but with some local use as well.

I have only been caught out once and that was because the 360miles didn't start where I thought it did - the tank wasn't completely full when I zeroed the trip meter.
Ohh............. and the spare fuel can which should have been full - wasn't

Not having long had my Bongo I can say that I have been monitoring the fuel guage with interest. I can confirm that 450 kilometers is reasonably accurate. Push it beyond that and I think you will enter the scary zone? I am unsure what fuel is in reserve once the light goes on but at that stage my concentration would be on finding a filling station asap. [-o< [-o<

Unless you have a late model (after 1999 I think) there is NO reserve light - so don't wait for it to come on.

Well I have a small LED lump next to empty which looks like a warning light, but then again you could be right as i have never run it down that low. As i said get to 450 and start looking...

I think 98 (S) was when the low-fuel light came in.

98 (R) does not have one so you may be right, as mine is the last of the "old" models.

Use it everyday on shool runs , short trips to shops etc and you will find you'll be walking the last 100 kms to get to 450 !!!

Well I have a mile odometer (GA5R speedo) and get around 345 miles per tank so that's 555 km per tank, I have pushed it to 365 miles 8)
I use daily to work doing 28 mile round trip with 24 mile on the motorway doing between 60 & 70. I rarely go over 3000 revs at any time and keep it in lockup when ever possible.
