What's the MPG like? Can I use chip fat and veggie oil? What about LPG?

Price of Veg Oil..

Post by Dr Fingers » Wed Mar 07, 2012 5:29 pm

Dear Tesco, don't we just love ya..?

last week, bought 3rd party Rapeseed @ £1 a litre in my local branch.

This week...all 3rd party stuff is off the shelves, Tesco's 'own brand' in place, ....at....wait for it....

cue fanfare...

£1.34p a litre

A 34% price increase, in one week??

Hmmm....

Yep! And soon will be again once the trend catches on and the tax man starts loosing revenue. Its like the LPG, they said that they will never increase the gas prices which were 65p per litre. loads of people converted then look at it now! Solar, they encouraged solar panels at 42p per kwh generated then to those who bought in...loads of people went for it and they halved the payout to 22p with a further reduction mid year. The government shouts for green energy and taxes us green taxes to the bollocks yet they will not invest in biodiesel or renewable energy. Instead they keep chasing oil. Thats what all the fuss is about in the Falklands!

when I started using it, it was 50p a litre, then I did a huge post on here about oil use and since then the price has gone sky high, so I guess it's my fault, lol.

Hi
I'm watching with interest here, as the price of diesel has topped the price of oil here by the equivalent of 1 1/2 pence.
Veg oil here is hard to come by compared to sunflower oil, as sunflowers are grown everywhere, and i can't see why the oil is so darned pricey...probably because they export a lot of it...
Anyway...DON"T WORRY ABOUT THE STRAITS OF HORMUZ.....if it's blocked you can watch the start of World War on your telly, and the price of diesel will be immaterial, with nukes flying everywhere
Bong Fury will continue as Harpo Fury in the Afterlife, and you'll be sitting on a cloud strumming your Harp (whilst you check on the price of harp-strings on g-bay, as we can't have e-vil bay upstairs....only Good-Bay)
Seriously, petrol will be so dear , you'll be travelling on motorised skateboards!
Cheers
Helen

That's not as mad as it might seem. I'm sure that internet forums rapidly boosted awareness and demand, leading to rapid price structure corrections by suppliers as they identified the new market.
