Olive oil?

What's the MPG like? Can I use chip fat and veggie oil? What about LPG?

Olive oil?

Post by Dr Fingers » Fri May 04, 2012 4:36 pm

Been offered 75 litres of 3 year old olive oil (unused) for £40. Van runs happily enough on KTC etc (small mix, usually 10-20%)..would olive oil cause any problems?

Thanks for any advice, though I doubt that any one has tried it :)

I doubt if anyone will know, as it's usually far too expensive. Isn't it quite a lot thicker than KTC?
I have noticed that old olive oil often seems to go waxy, so can you actually see the oil?
I have used veg oil at up to nearly 100% (usually at about 50%), but I don't think I'd risk olive oil as I've never heard of it used by anybody on any website.

I don't think it's as calorific as veg oil, but I guess economy is not the issue here. I can't offer any other advice, though.

Worried that it might be a bit thick: mind you , we wouldn't 'arf smell classy compared to KTC (which I can't get anymore round here :x )

At least we wouldn't smell of chips, more like 'pommes frites'.. :D

I thought that I might add some finely shredded tarragon, a pinch of mint, and a dash of Andalucian camel sugar just to aid the Bongoloid digestive tract.

Perhaps 'flamb'ed' (ie burnt..how do you add the Frenchie grave accent?) with some pine nut seeds, plus a twist of lemon, and perhaps followed by a quick blast of Calvados?

If the van dies, we can always sniff the exhaust.. :D
