Corn Oil
Completely new to Bongo-ing and already realised I will need a big dose of veggie oil to realise my travel plans this summer! I have seen a 20 litre bottle of corn oil at my local asian supermarket for 13.99. Can you use corn oil? Every other type of oil is mentioned in the posts but I have not seel corn oil. Anybody?
Re: Corn Oil
I am sure that it will work....however, if the seals in the fuel pump are original expect some leakage soon after.

Re: Corn Oil
Corn oil is too thick, stick to Rapeseed oil, which at the moment is £9.95 for 10 litres at Farm Foods, obviously in cold weather use less oil to diesel and increase as weather gets warmer. Good luck.

Re: Corn Oil
I found corn oil to be too thick, so had to use a lot less for starting - it's OK once the engine is hot, but I definitely preferred rapeseed oil.

Re: Corn Oil
Just got 40 litres of Tesco 'vegetable' oil, but there's nothing on the bottle to say what this is made from, just 'calorific' info.

No mention of E90 'anti foaming agent' either, which usually appears. It's quite a dark colour..could this be corn oil?

Re: Corn Oil
Looks like the stuff I saw in Tesco (indeed probably the 2for£10 that many folk are talking about at the minute). I remember seeing rapeseed written on there... Might be wrong.Dr Fingers wrote:Just got 40 litres of Tesco 'vegetable' oil, but there's nothing on the bottle to say what this is made from, just 'calorific' info.

Pah to delivery - do what I do - go and buy required quantity, park up in a suitably vacant part of the car park, add some of the oil then drive round to the pumps to top up and complete the job. I always carry I unload the remainder into the shed (raises a few eybrows with my holier-than-though,how-could-you-possibly-get-through-that-much-oil-you-must-fry-everything neighbour) and just take out what I need next time I fill up. I can even dispose if the empties in the recycling.
