Boot Strut Bolts

Post by DarthOps » Sat May 08, 2021 12:21 pm

Hi,

On my 2001 Petrol V6 Bongo I need to get the boot gas struts re-gassed so need to take them off to send to SGS. I managed to successfully loosen the bolts that attach it to the main part of the bongo but the bolts on the boot itself were stuck fast (to the point that they started to round slightly when trying to remove them)

Questions are:

1) Does anyone have any techniques for getting bolts of this kind removed? or recommended tools for doing so?

2) Do you know what size the bolts are (for both ends of the strut)? They appear to be different sizes and as I'll probably have to replace the ones that attach to the tailgate it would be good to know what suitable replacements would be.

Thanks for your help!

I've got a nut and bolt remover set from Screwfix which works well.

Amazon and others do the same.

Thanks, have ordered now so hopefully it does the trick!

Anyone know where I can get replacement bolts for the ones that are rounded?

Thanks

Bongo Spares are the normal 'go to' for parts.
