Strange Temp Guage Readings
Hi All
Had my Bongo in at Jap Direct about a month ago to replace the rear heater matrix, several hoses and had the thermostat replaced before that.
All has been well until the last couple of days and I have noticed the temp guage doesnt move for about 15 mins while driving, then it goes up to "11 o clcok" and back down to zero every few mins?
I suspect there still maybe some air trapped in the cooling system but will be calling Adrian back up this week to get him to take a look over it.
I have an additional digital temp guage fitted and this ready as it alwasy has done and shows no overheating.
Just wandered if anyone else had come across this before?
Cheers
Tony

Re: Strange Temp Guage Readings
Could just be an electrical fault on the gauge circuit itself..?
Where do you have the "additional digital temp gauge" sensor fitted.?
Where do you have the "additional digital temp gauge" sensor fitted.?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Hi,
It sounds like a faulty connection on the transmitter
Cheers.

Digi temp sensor is strapped to the first metal pipe from the top hose, and has always read between 56 and 68 degrees and still shows this now?
Where is the normal temp sensor located? i'll give the connection a clean up and see if it helps

Re: Strange Temp Guage Readings
I certainly did, the previous owner had cut the thermostat centre out, but all has been fine since Jap direct did a complete overall of the cooling system
My bongo now has a new Rad, new thermostat, new rear Matrix, new hoses, new coolant and is running sweet as a nut.
Sure it will be something and nothing...famous last words

Re: Strange Temp Guage Readings
If it's going up & down almost instantly, it more than likely is not a coolant issue, but as has been said - is an electrical issue, especially if t'other gauge is reading normally (although 56-68 degrees is low, should be up in the 80's for a properly runnning system, the position of you add on sensor is probably not the best though, it'll be subject to cooling effects of airflow ), recent identical issue here - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... or#p523529
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
