Cooling water system now OK - for info

Post by alang4kuf » Tue Jul 04, 2006 4:35 pm

A recent sequence of events left me feeling a little despondent but I am glad to say I now have a 1995 Bongo which does not blow off steam or leave puddles everywhere.

First was the water pump which started squealing and then seized a week or so later - and the engine boiled rather dramatically about 1/2 mile from home. With a new pump from Ian (for ?60 less than other quotes), this was fixed but there were problems getting the hoses leak-free. The rubber was perished and the metal tubes in the top and bottom hoses were badly corroded. With help from Ian, I got replacements for the metal tubes and a complete vehicle set of hoses from Bongobits (japtec.com of Plymouth) sent from Japan in a week. Langley Autocraft did the fitting work OK. All's well that ends well!
