Rooftop warning light

Post by callaway » Tue Jul 11, 2006 8:14 pm

Any ideas? My rooftop warning light stays flashing after roof is closed. All appears secure. Have opened and closed several times and checked for any obstructions, but all clear as far as I can see. Still flashes when driven, but I am worried about doing this.

Does the beeping stop when the roof has fully closed? I guess it does which would indicate the microswitch should be ok

No warning beep but flashing light only. Any ideas? Is it safe to drive?

If you have a look at the mechanism when it is opening/closing you will see that the top has sort of lugs which mate into the fixed bit on the main vehicle roof mechanism.

It would be nigh on impossible for the roof to open accidentally if these are engaged. Also, the torque of the motor and drive mechanism would oppose any opening force.

If the roof appears to be solidly down (and I would NOT recommend sticking a finger under the lip of the roof as it is closing, just to check!) then it is almost certainly safe to drive.

The fault probably lies in the microswitches, see other threads on this topic for more info.

E&OE, given without prejudice.
