brake light...

Post by gatecrasher » Thu Jul 13, 2006 2:01 pm

I am just about to purchase a bongo from a private person, they send me lots of pictures and I am happy with the price, but they said that the only problem is that the brake light on the dash board comes on now and again but the brakes work fine. I remember reading about this, but I can't find the topic anymore, is it just a case of filling the brake oil up?

Thanks
carliol

According to the handbook which I suggest you get asap, the brake light comes on when :-
Parking brake is applied
Brake fluid is low
Vacuum pressure of the braking device is low

Hope this helps

Does it have ABS. If so, are you sure it is the brake light and not the ABS warning light?

Yes I will get the handbook as soon as I can sound like we all need a copy.
I am not sure if it has ABS it is an S reg 1997 should it have ABS?

In any case I will check the level of the brake liquid.

Thanks for the advice I'll let you know what the problem was as soon as I can.

If it has ABS there should be a yellow light that illuminates for a few seconds on the dashboard when you start up. I believe if there was an ABS fault it would be this, rather than the red light that would come one.
