Servicing

Post by AndrewJ » Sat Jul 15, 2006 6:39 pm

Getting to grips with my recently acquired Bongo. Having been used to a car which needed servicing every year/9,000 miles I am taken aback by what the Bongo will require.

Every 5,000 km (3,000 miles) - Change: engine oil, Air Cleaner Element

Every 10,000 km (6,000 miles) - Change: engine oil filter

Every 50,000 km (30,000 miles) - Change: Fuel filter

Every two years - Change: Brake fluid, Coolant

Every 100,000 km (63,000 miles) - Change: Differential Oil, Timing Belt

When "Differential" is referred to is this the automatic gearbox or the rear axle differential?

My local (Peugeot) garage charged ?125.61 for change oil and filter, check brakes, brake cleaner, screen conc.
What is reasonable?
All advice welcome!
With thanks to you all
Andrew.

The manufacturers recommendations for servicing are a bit excessive in my view. I get the oil and oil filter and air filter changed every 6 months, and the fuel filter annually. I do about 12,000 miles pa.

The diff oil refers to the rear differential (and front diff if you have 4 WD).

Thanks for the guidance and for clarifying the differential. How often does the automatic gearbox fluid need changing?
