Fuel Guage always on??

Post by Vanmanerik » Wed Sep 20, 2006 11:44 am

Hi, Is it 'normal' for the fuel gauge to always show the fuel level whether ignition is on or off? :?

Fuel Guage.

Sorry, I'm a bit thick but does:-
'does on the bongo and my MX5 Andy'
'Does on mine Shane' mean that YES the fuel gauge is always ON.

Can you put it in simple language for me please?
Thanks,
Erik

As with many Japanese vehicles - the fuel gauge will give a reading all the time and not just when the ignition is on.

The fuel guage on mine works wth the ignition on or off I have had
other cars that do the same, I do not think there is a fault just how
this model works.

So your is okay

Fuel Gauge.

Thanks for clearing that up up folks, I have never seen a gauge act like that, all my previous cars have had the guages go through the ignition.

I am going to try and build and fit a lowfuel level flashing LED, let you know how it goes.

The fuel gauge is supplied through the ignition.

The indicator is heavily damped and requires power to
move it which is why it remains in the same place with
the ignition off.

The heavy damping also makes it move very slowly
when you fill the tank.
