I can recommend The Lodge garage near Wrexham to the rust directory. Only a small out of the way place, £400 to cut out rear arches and respray panels,
I asked how much to respray the whole of the bottom half of the van (windows down) and all the tailgate which was silver and van was blue and under seal where he could £750 all in. Lodge Garage Near Wrexham. 01978 758521 ask for Keith Williams. Mark runs the mechanical side of things and has done a grand job when I've needed him.

Those really are very good prices. did that price include the cost of the Mercedes Sprinter wheel arches?

My award goes to David alias Kloonsy at Bongo Bodyshop in Barnsley.
I will post pics asap but after meeting him a few years ago i kept mine instead of finding another.
Bottom half spray, new sills, rear arches and front crossmember repair all done to a very high standard.
You get what you pay for granny told me and with Dave you get more than that and Tea as well.
So he gets 99 /100 in my book..........
Would have been 100 but he never has any sugar......
I would walk 500 miles.

Done me proud on the Bongo, not the quickest, but I'm happy with the job, at a great price.

Sounds interesting. What work did they do and what were they like on price, promptness and quality. I've a friend not far south of Birmingham who might need some Bongo work doing at some point.

Mazda Bongo "under-sealing/waxyol" at Rust Master Hatfield. On 17th May 2015

Bongo needed complete undersealing including inside box sections where possible. Front & rear doors & bonnet.
Quite difficult to find this place. Chap called Michael Miller, an Aussie! nice chap!
Left Bongo there at 10am went back at 4pm Bongo done.
We went to Hatfield House "a very interesting place to visit" as we needed to stay local to pick it up.
Job was done well, spare wheel removed, all areas looked to be well covered.
There was a very fine over spray as it is in the air particles & can not be helped. He wiped most of with White spirit. But we gave the Bongo a good clean when we got home.

Verdict: Good job done. Helpful chap. Be prepared to do a valet yourself after collection.
Cost: £395 special offer as moving to new premises at St Albans for better access. Would I use Ruster Master again yes :D

Sorry for late reply
Cheers

Just had my rear arches replaced with Sprinter ones by Melvin Davis of Matfield Body & Paint, near Tonbridge, Kent. He's a classic VW camper expert so knows all about keeping old campervans on the road! Mine was his first Bongo but he had no trouble doing the job, which included a bottom half respray. Got mine in at Ian Taylor right now,

Having the arches chopped out and replaced and the inside wax oiled, will post some pictures when it is done (hopefully later this week)

One thing I will note is the speed the arches deteriorated.

We bought the Bongo in July. We noticed the first bubble in October. By January there were a few bubbles on each side and one had a pin hole causing a brown stain down the paintwork. By Feb both sides had a pin hole / brown stain. By March there were lots of bubbling all round the arch.

So we lasted about 3 months with no sign of rust at all.
Then within 5 months they had deteriorated to quite a bad state.

There were signs that it had been repaired in the past, so I presume it had just been filled. Fingers crossed that a proper job - cutting the arches out etc will sort it for a good few years to come.

found someone in local area said he would do chassis, sills, wheel arches, but will not use the sprinter arches I bought off ebay says to thin metal he can make better himself ( quote around £600 the lot ) if I remove seats and side panels for his fire watcher access and rear bumper, did ask if he knows the Bongos
answer worked on imported bongos solid for 5 years not much he hasn't done..........let you know how I get on.
