Faulty "lights on" buzzer?

Post by Bongold » Tue May 26, 2020 5:30 pm

I have an intermittent problem with the buzzer/beep unit. If I turn the lights on and off, the buzzer is sometimes loud and sometimes quiet. Nothing in between. When it's sounding quietly, it could easily be missed with some background noise.

Has this been noticed before and is there a common fix?

Can't say I have heard of such a report before myself. Check that there isn't something getting in the way of the module, like the floor mat perhaps blocking the sound ?

Thank you. I think I'll remove the unit and check all the connections and give it a good inspection. Will report back tomorrow!

After much gnashing of teeth, and with the aid of a mirror, torch and small flat screwdriver, I managed to get the green box off the metal post. I dismantled, and removed the circuit board, blew it all out and used IPA to clean contacts etc. So far it seems to have done the trick!

Sounds about right ;-) Most of the time its finding out how things come apart the first time, after that it speeds up a lot! Lets hope the dusting did the job :-)
