Tailgate wont open

Post by alze » Fri Jul 17, 2020 9:45 am

Hi All,
Hope this finds you keeping well. I have a problem in that my tailgate wont open. I have a kitchen unit that blocks access to the handle, so cant easily use the interior handle to open it. I tried with a spare key to open the lock, ending up twising the key :\
Any suggestions (other than removing the kitchen) to get the tailgate open ?
Regards,
A.

Some of the keys are different and don't include certain doors!

If the central locking isn't working it could be the loom from the A pillar to the driver's door, or same from roof into rear door.

The thin wires work harden and break over time.

Hi Gents,

After stripping out my kitchen and trying to find a way to reach the handle, saw the advice on here and went down the 'central locking' route.

What was important was that my fuse #1 wasnt working correctly either, so probably the reason why the central locking had stopped working. Done a simple test of putting a good fuse into #1 and hurrah the central locking worked and could get the tailgate open again !

A couple of long extensions got a soldering iron out to the bongo and I hard-wired the line into the back of the fuse box (had been using a blade for conversion), but still found that there is *one* wire a bit wrong between the lesiure battery and fuse box - have temprorarily used the drive-side electric curtains for a working tail-gate/central locking.

With the end-kitchen out took the opputnity to deep-clean everything so its all back in and now looking really spick and span !
Thanks again for the advice and suggestions - it really helped !
