Hello,
Where might I find the engine number on a 2002 2.5 diesel AWD?
Thanks

Re: engine number
Do you really want the engine number ? Usually the VIN will do, getting the engine number on some engine types is "interesting" you will learn quite a bit about dismantling the head I'm told, despite how easy it looks in these images!
Re: engine number
Thanks. Well, I am in communication with Snapon in the hope of getting their kit to read engine management codes. They asked for the number to determine whether this will work. I am not optimistic but this is their response so far:
Being a diesel engine then it may not be EOBD compliant as this wasn't mandatory for vehicles until 2005, If you have any paper work with the engine code on it or can see it anywhere on the engine then maybe I could cross reference it to see if its in any other models?

Re: engine number
Are engine code is the designation for each engine type not the engine number which is the serial number of each engine!
WL-T
FE-E
J5-DE
are the engine codes, but to be honest its more to do with the ECU in use and how it interprets the sensors to an error number and hence to a readable error message
