Front Lower ball joint.

Post by Lucybod » Sat Aug 08, 2020 2:46 pm

After my bongo failed the MOT on front lower ball joints, I was please that I had already got some. After 10 days of bashing, knashing of teeth and crashing the first one is done. It took 7 days to take the old one out. It wouldn’t shift. I made all sorts of contraptions and also ordered pullers from Amazon. I read all the relevant posts on the forum. Watched YouTube. Putting the new one in was nearly as bad as pulling the old one. That has taken 3 days. It wouldn’t go in. I thought you might like to see the thing I made to push the new one in And all the tools I needed for the job.
Sorry can’t seem to make it the right way up!

Might be easier if you removed the lower arm then push them out and back in again using a vice if not get them too an engineering firm with a press.
Thats if you have a big enough vice of course.

You would be better taking the lower wishbone off the vehicle,, after 10 days of bashing i dont think I would trust the safety of the BJ .Mazda /Ford owing the the make up of the LW do not recommend replacing the Ball Joint .
