Expansion tank

Post by Stevievee » Sat Aug 22, 2020 10:18 am

Hi all,

Quick query. Just checked the coolant on my van, I use a lollipop stick with a mark about 2cm up. It is usually bob on the line, or there about. Today though the coolant is half way up the stick? This is first thing, van hasn't been started, so cold engine. In fact it gasnt been run forvthe past couple of days. It has been to Bongospares for mot, service last week. Would they have topped it up maybe?
Thanks
Steve

I know, Saturday though, so they'll be closed. We have a bit of drive out in her later! The dreaded constant coolant worry of owning a Bongo!! :(

Will keep an eye on the temp as we are going!!

Hm.. seems a shame to point a finger at one of the best but if you regularly check your level as it sounds as though you do you'll know what is normal and what's not and the only thing that's changed is the recent service. off the top of my head I can't think of any fault that would increase the coolant level when completely cold. I guess to be completely safe you should do a full bleed of the system just to make sure. if it was me I'd drop the level down to what you know it to normally be and go for a good drive staying close to home just in case until you are confident that it was just a simple mistake.
