Dim headlight - ground issue?

Post by BongoBear » Tue Sep 01, 2020 7:23 pm

Hi all,

The nearside headlight on my Bongo is a bit dim (along with its owner  )

It's noticeably dimmer than the offside one both on dipped beam and full beam (doesn't appear to get any brighter at all, although the offside is fine).

After a bit of searching online I think it might be an issue with the ground connection? Has anyone else had this problem? And where should I look for the right wire/connection to poke/scrub???

Thanks in advance!!

Usually it's the plug on the back of the bulb, try that first.

Good point, Ady.

These are worth a look:

Plenty of other sellers.

Mine was the plug, wasn't too hard to change. I seem to remember doing it in the dark one evening.

It did require a bit of soldering IIRC and was a little limited on space. I took the headlight unit out.

I bought a pair of plugs figuring the offside would need change soon after but a couple of years on it still seems perfect. The replacement plug was an instant fix and I could see where the old one had being getting hot.
