Glowplug light flashing - daft codes

Post by TheHillsAreCalling » Wed Sep 09, 2020 8:23 pm

Hi all,

Once warm, our diesel Bongo goes into limp mode with glowplug flashing. We connected the jumper to the diagnostic port and read the ECU codes from the glowplug light but they don't make sense when we look them up on this page - http://www.philmcfadden.co.uk/MazdaDiagnosticBox.htm

The codes we get are...

11 - ???
12 - Throttle position sensor
15 - Oxygen sensor
18 - ???
20 - ???
21 - ???
24 - Feedback system (LH O2 sensor)

So the questions are... Why so many unknowns? How come two are for oxygen sensors on a diesel? And basically what on earth is going on?

As usual the timing is perfect with us about to go on our only holiday of the year at the weekend!

Anyone got any clues as to what's happening?

Many thanks in advance,
Hills

You don't say what year vehicle, some time after 1999 they switched to 4-digit codes not 2-digit ones, you need to read them the same way, but as 4 individual digits as opposed to a 10's and 1's.

She's 2001 so that's it.

Turns out the 4-digit code is 0115 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction. Julian is fitting a new temperature sensor as I type this!

Many thanks Geoff,
Phil
