Flashing roof light on dashboard

Post by phillips321 » Fri Sep 11, 2020 1:24 pm

Hi all,

I've just picked up a new to me 1996 Mazda Bongo Camper and it has a few issues that I'd like to tinker with to sort. So apologies for the multiple posts, I just thought it would be easier to track this way.

The roof works completely fine, other than the bright red flashing light on the dashboard. I can see multiple microswitches on the roof, two at the front, one in the middle and one at the back. I assume the back it for when it's open, the middle to pause on the way down, and the two at the front to confirm it's closed.

Should both front microswitches be activated(closed) to turn off the red warning light? Are the adjustable? Is there an easy way to test if they're being activated (it's neigh on impossible to see them when the roof is closed)

Thanks in advance

Yes the limit switches are as you describe. Both front ones need to activate to tell the computer to shut of power to the motors, and one switch also removes the earth to the lamp inside the AFT. See the wiring diagrams for full details
