Thermostat and temp gauge sensor

Post by Bongocat » Sat Oct 24, 2020 12:56 pm

Hi all
Love our bongo petrol 2 litre 😊but am about to change the temperature gauge sensor along with the thermostat. Is anyone able to answer the following questions
When screwing in the sensor has anyone used any additional sealant with it?
When changing the thermostat gasket is any sealant used with it ?
or dry ?
Thank you in advance for any answers 😊

Changed plenty of these. No sealant on the sensor, its a taper fit. The genuine thermostat gasket has sealant on it. If its non-genuine, you may need to add some.

Something to check -
If you undo the expansion tank and air bubbles up, put the cap back on.
Then take the radiator cap off and top up the rad until its full.
Replace its cap.

Some of the 2l have a 1 way valve which can cause problems, and the temperature reading on the gauge will be wrong. Once its topped up, it may read correctly.
Allan's closed. We recommend PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services in Plymouth.
