Reverse Bench seat belts

Post by LexieBongo » Thu Nov 19, 2020 5:24 pm

Hi,
I want to reverse one of my benches so it’s back to back with the drivers/passenger seats but I really need to retain the 3point seats for the children.
Just wondering if anyone had managed to do it and if so how?
Thanks
Steven

Just a thought, would it be possible for the children to travel on the rear bench, belted safely?

At the moment we’ve got 2kids which travel safely on the bench but we’ve got another due and I don’t really want to use the lap belt for one of them to travel with. Also I’m not sure we’ll get 3 car seats in a row. 🙈
I’d love to be able to have the benches facing each other so the kids can keep each other entertained on long journeys. 👍🏻

Its not possible to retain the existing 3point seatbelts, without adapting and welding new mounts and fixings for the belts. This wouldn't be crash-tested so safety couldn't be guaranteed and your insurer wouldn't be happy.
Based on this, I'd say your best route is to try to find 3 childseats that will fit side by side.

Ok, thanks very much. Do you know if they made a isofix bench for the new bongos which could be put in a 1996 model?

Yes they do. The firms who convert Bongos to campers sometimes have them spare, as they remove the seat when converting.

Great thanks very much. I might go down this route instead.
