Gear shifter

Post by TheLongRoad » Wed Dec 23, 2020 9:23 am

Okay, I’ve had to think long and hard about the title to this thread - I could have called it ‘sticky k***’ but want to keep this clean ( the gear shifter that is)😀.

The issue is this, the plastic has gone sticky with age and feels sticky and collects dirt. As our Bongo has the grey interior it looks and feels messy. Any tips on what to use to sort it out? Tried the interior cleaner from local parts shop but not had lasting impact.

Cheers, hopefully next year we all get to use our Bongos more.

Various ideas on line, including WD40, apply talc then scrape off, and finish with a solvent, or IPA (isopropyl alcohol) and paper towel.

Not tried any of them, but seem to get results of sorts.

Cheers Bob, I’ll take a look over on YouTube over the break- that’ll be better than Wizzard of Oz or the usual Christmas BBC stuff. :D

Have a good one.

You could always wrap it or fit a cover....
