Belt Sizes

Post by DJVR » Fri Jul 30, 2021 3:07 pm

Hi Guys. Sorry if this is a bit out of sorts for a first post but I'm in urgent need of help. One of my alternator belts snapped (what an awful noise! I thought it was a death rattle) and I'm heading to Wales on Sunday so need to source new belts form a local supplier ASAP.

Thing is I'm struggling, and so are all the car parts places, to find the parts I need. I've looked on the Bongo Fury Memebers Parts Finder and I'm still confused. Please help. I know I need two of one size and one of another (for the aircon) but what are the sizes please? Someone must know? Lots of conflicting info: 13x1000, 13x1100, 13x1025 even 13x1125 from different sources.

Yeah but the sizes aren’t…. I need them tomorrow, that’s never gonna happen if I order from the shop. See my dilemma?

Quick update then, just in case anyone else has this issue. Couldn't get the alternator belts at that size to fit so ended up driving 700km or more with just one belt, trouble-free :D

Once back, ordered a full set from bongoland.co.uk which just arrived.

Alternator is: AVX13x1100HD
A/C belt is: AVX13x1000LA

The alternator belts are a very tight fit.

You may need to fit one as far as you can manage, then blip the starter motor to pull it fully on to the pulley.

Repeat to get it on to the second pulley, and again to get the other belt on.

Afterthought:

Replace the belt with a new, identical, pair.

The one you've been using will have stretched a little, and there will be a tiny difference between manufacturers.

If you don't there will be different tensions on the belts and one will break, likely taking it's pal with it.
