Plotting my visit to the meet now. I'm thinking of making a weekend of it - it's going abroad after all! ;)

Is anyone local enough to be able to tell me if Pendennis Castle car park is being controlled at night?

If you mean the actual castle car park, it's locked when the castle closes but if you mean the one on the Point, it probably is checked by the police. They are pretty hot on people sleeping in their vehicles unfortunately because a few horse box dwellers have parked their unsightly homes in places where "NO CAMPING OR OVERNIGHT SLEEPING PERMITTED" signs are clearly visible for several days (weeks!) at a time.

There's no guarantees, but you might get away with it at the very back of Swanpool Beach car park (I've been down there early in the morning and there's been vans with their silver screens up which I assume have been there all night). Likewise, Queen Mary Road which is the road between the car park where we are having our meet and the beach.

I'm sorry that I can't offer a space outside our house but we've got too many cars at the moment, and are already upsetting the neighbours. It's even beginning to upset me

Thanks for the details, Alison!

Looking at the map, I might just go back to the lovely campsite near Portscatho (just across King Harry Ferry), where I went camping last year. Or I'll look for a quiet spot in the wilderness...

Time to use my new Bongo for what she's made for? I think so! 8)

If you are going to go for a campsite, it's a little bit of a drive from Falmouth but I've just discovered that this campsite http://stkevernevillagecampsite.com/index.htm is open all year, and I really like the look of it. I only "discovered" it last week, so haven't actually got around to staying there yet.

There are probably a fair few places that you can tuck yourself away and get away with it, but I can't think of any at the moment!

=D> Hello everybody.
Been a bit quiet. Very broke as home not sold yet but I do hope to come on 12th

Only trouble is that I may have a third canine with me. He belonged to my daughter who is too ill to keep him

Freddy is therefore for sale. He is a purebred Chihuahua and is 6 months old He is utterly cute and comes with a passport and two crates as well as clothes and other accessories He is up to date with his vaccinations [including rabies ofcourse] and he has been microchipped. What more could anyone want for 550 pounds?? http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 34&t=44681#

Ooh, Catharine I was thinking about you today. Are you seriously inconvenienced by all the snow? Glad you hope to come on the 12th.

Well, I'm tentatively hopeful that Charley (poodle) and I (not poodle) can make it on the 12th, unless the weather turns snowy/icy again. I still haven't got a set of winter boots for Hoptoad...

Are any of you others camping somewhere the night before?

In view of the continuing chill (I know it's only Monday) I will put my weather observation for Sunday morning on here early enough for those of you travelling any distance. Unless it's obvious that the entire South West of England has the same weather conditions :?

Weather is looking warm (well, that is: above freezing) and dry,
so I've battened down the hatches, stacked the rum barrels high
and requested leave from the harbour authorities (aka She Who
Must Be Indoors).

First mate Charley and I will be setting sails on Saturday to make
port at Stithians Reservoir for a spot of birdwatching and our
first-ever night in the good ship Hoptoad.

We'll see you on Sunday on the beach!

That's it, calm seas and a beautiful blue sky!!

It got very, very warm here today too! Well, quite balmy! OK, maybe comparably warm. But it's 7 degrees here now and the sun has long set.

Looking forward to seeing everyone (hopefully) on Sunday.

The weather today has been a bit gloomy, but not cold. The forecast for tomorrow starts gloomy, brightening up in the afternoon. Temperature 8 degrees but strong east(ish) winds, which means they are onshore (ish) so bring a decent jacket!!

Look forward to seeing those of you who can make it.

I'm just a few miles away now, slumming it in the Golden Lion with venison steak, pints of Proper Job and rhubarb crumble. Being a Bongolier is such a hard life! :D

Maybe if I promise not to come to the next meet, there'll be some more vans?

Nice meeting those who attended - quality, not quantity!

Sorry I had to rush off, but the home situation required my early return.

Au revoir!
