Bridgwater is always on the Friday nearest to 5th November and this is the biggest one and I think the best one to go to.

Plenty of time to organise then, Do you have somewhere in mind for overnighting? I think we could be up for this, although judging by the current climate I think the kiddlies would need some extra insulation!!
Re: Somerset carnivals
Can HIGHLY RECOMMEND the carnival. We go every year as our daughter lives in Weston super Mare and we are fortunate to stay with her each year. They seem to be to like the carnivals you see in on TV of Brazil etc. I know they are nowhere near as elaborate as those but they are INCREDIBLE. Well worth sorting out for next year. We will be going to Weston this Saturday and coming back on Tuesday. We unfortunately leave the Beloved Bongo on the pavement outside her house and cheat by staying in her cottage. The atmosphere is out of this world. Music is SO LOUD as they pass by it makes your heart jump out of your skin.
Weston Super Mare Carnival is always on a Monday.
Mention of climate. The heat from all the bulbs and generators is amazing. Even when it has been raining it seems to not be noticed by anybody.
Hope you get it sorted aitch.

Re: Somerset carnivals
yes the somerset carnival season is well worth a trip
loads of visitors come to Carnival and loads of money is made for charity
the Carnival clubs work all year to make their floats and raise money to make their floats, all volunteers.
I hope you all decide to come to Somerset and see the Carnival

Re: Somerset carnivals
We were at Glastonbury on Saturday.
Parked in the street we were only about 5 yards from the passing parade and when it finished we danced back to the van, climbed inside, had several drinks whilst watching the traffic queues outside and then went to sleep only moving in the morning for breakfast before a climb up the Tor.
Brilliant fun and highly recommended.
Glastonbury is the best bet because it is always on a Saturday evening.

Bongo-ing. The beginning of life as Susie and I now know it...
Re: Somerset carnivals
Hi
You are right about Glastonbury being best bet as Weston is always on a Monday. Not bad for us as we are retired and tie it in with visiting daughter and family.
Whichever you choose there is nothing like it. Stand to be corrected as always.
Are there any other carnivals in UK of this standard

Re: Somerset carnivals
I'm still looking for a camp site within walking distance of the town, any town to organise this have time to explore options before next years carnival season get underway.

Hello aitch. I don't know if you've seen this campsite organisation, I've used it a few times to search for sites, it's pretty good as you can narrow the search down a bit, to include the facilities you need.I'm still looking for a camp site within walking distance of the town, any town to organise this
