I've just had confirmation from the Lead Mining Museum that they definitely will open for us on the Saturday so the more who can come along to that the better to thank them for their efforts.

In preparation, there are no shops in Wanlockhead but there is a small but very well equipped shop in Leadhills, a couple of miles north on the B797. The nearest big shop is the Co-Op in Sanquhar which is 9 miles away, SW on the fabulous B797 then NW on the A76.

any chance of June coming along as well??
Doubtful at the moment. She is having physiotherapy treatment on her bad back and will not travel very far at the moment.

I trust that you and Christine are keeping well.

Thanks for the responses so far - this could be a good meeting. It's a shame that more of the local attractions aren't open so early in the year but we'll make it work.

Nearer the time I'll try to gauge numbers and who is camping on the carpark and who is on the campsite. By the look of it the carpark for the mining museum would accommodate some vans too, with the bonus being that you're right by the latrines. But you've further to stagger for a pint :D

Winter Wheels and Autosocks now arrived. Question now of beating the snow up the slope to the main road to get to the tyre place to have them fitted to my motorhome on Thursday. Then I am all set for the trip.

Wish i could get Trish to join me on this as weekends are our time together but she's decided that although she loves bongo people the rigours of bongo camping are, for the most part, more than she can manage. Hmmm maybe if i can find a local b&b......

Where are the Glamping pods. I can't see them anywhere near the pub on Google maps.

The pods are on the same site amongst the trees, the Google imagery must be out of date, in fact the StreetView images are from 2009 and 2010.
